Inspiring Students at School Visits
At Branchville Animal Hospital, we’re proud to have Dr. Padgett on our team, a dedicated veterinarian and passionate educator who loves sharing his world with curious young minds. Over the past year, we’ve visited several schools and community events to help children learn more about the veterinary profession and the animals they love.
Our stops have included:
- Community Presbyterian Play School
- Moody Elementary School
- Rudd Middle School
- Odenville Elementary School
- 4H Field Day
Each visit is a little different, but the goal is always the same: to spark curiosity, answer questions, and show kids what it’s really like to care for animals.
In February, Dr. Padgett and his Border Collie, Pearl, visited Community Presbyterian Play School, where preschoolers and kindergarteners brought their stuffed animals for a “check-up.” In March, he teamed up with Lacey, our lead customer service representative, and her Siberian Husky, Loki, to visit Moody Elementary. Together, they talked about the story of Balto, a famous Siberian Husky, and the unique traits of sled dogs.
So, what draws Dr. Padgett and the team to these classrooms?
“I have four young kids, so I often get invited to share my experience as a veterinarian,” he says. “I love showing them the tools we use, especially the large animal tools. It’s always fun to see their eyes light up.”
He’s also been invited to read books at elementary schools, and we never miss a chance to connect with students through stories, hands-on demonstrations, and even a few tail wags from our canine companions.
Whether it’s examining stuffed animals or explaining how X-rays work, Dr. Padgett’s visits leave a lasting impression. With Dr. Padgett leading the way, we have no doubt some of those bright young faces will grow up to wear a stethoscope of their own.
